Roshni Mahtani ((シンド語:روشني مهتاڻِي)) is a Singaporean entrepreneur and journalist. She is best known for launching Asia's largest parenting website (theAsianparent.com ) in 2009, family activity website (Kidlander.sg ) in 2011, and Pregnancy portal (pregnant.sg ) in 2013.
In 2012, her company, Tickled Media was certified as one of the world's most democratic companies by WorldBlu and ranked among Singapore's 10 hottest start-ups in 2012 by Singapore Business Review.
In 2011, Mahtani announced that Tickled Media had signed a contract with the Russian online publisher SUP Media to run its flagship product, LiveJournal in Asia with her as Asia Head. Mahtani was quoted as saying that "With the total e-commerce market estimated at S$1.6 billion this year, we are proud to see that LiveJournal transactions might represent a staggering 6% of that, re-affirming us as one of the largest e-commerce players in Singapore."
In October 2012, Tickled Media received national acclaim for its Gangnam style parody "Kancheong Style" with lyrics describing the life of Singapore's school children. The music video also won the Silver in the 2014 Singapore PR Awards.
Start-up Scene
As an entrepreneur based in Singapore, Mahtani is also actively involved in the startup community. In 2012, she co-founded the Female Founders Network, a non-profit organization that aims to increase funding to female founded companies from its current 5% to 20% by 2020. The female founders network has over 800 female founders as members. Mahtani also sits on the board of TiE Singapore and is a mentor at JFDI.Asia and CRIB Singapore where she works with early stage startups.
Besides her involvement in the Singapore start-up scene, Mahtani is an Executive Producer of Untouchable: Children of God - A 2014 documentary film about the callous abuse of little girls in the brothels of India and how they are drugged, sold and trafficked from neighboring Nepal.
